Berlin (dpa / bb) - As part of a nationwide day of action, the “Zero Covid” initiative also called for protests in Berlin.

Around two dozen people took part in a rally in front of the main Charité building in Mitte on Saturday afternoon and called for a tough lockdown in view of the rising number of new infections.

One participant said it was also about not leaving the streets to so-called lateral thinkers.

Previously, the Neukölln Left had called for a rally on the Tempelhofer Feld.

The demonstrators are in favor of a limited but consistent lockdown - also because they assume that the restrictions could then be withdrawn more quickly, as co-organizer Sonja Radde said on Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB).

In the evening, the nationwide day of action was to be continued online via live stream.
