Potsdam (dpa / bb) - In the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, the Corona emergency brake is automatically terminated.

Because there were fewer than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week for three days in a row in the past week, the easing of March came into force again.

This means that one household and another household may meet outside, but no more than five people, children up to 14 years of age are excluded.

The Barnim district promised easing from Tuesday, and this may also be the case in Potsdam in a few days.

Potsdam's Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) criticized the automatic end of the emergency brake, which is stipulated in the state's Corona regulation.

"We can not stubbornly open when new infections are falling," he warned on Saturday.

"With full intensive care beds, even a few new patients are enough to overload the system."

Schubert called for the automatic end of the emergency brake not to be included in the planned national regulations.

He also suggested that the state government, municipalities, business, sport and culture work together to develop a strategy for openings.

The district day criticized in the “Märkische Allgemeine” (Saturday) that the back and forth between opening and closing on the basis of incidence was difficult to convey.

According to the Corona Ordinance, the emergency brake comes into force in districts and urban districts if the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is over 100 for 3 days in a row in a week.

Then a household can only meet with one other person, shopping with an appointment is taboo.

This applies for at least two weeks.

If the seven-day incidence from the tenth to the twelfth day of the order for stricter rules is below 100 again, the emergency brake ends at the end of the day after these two weeks.

The number of infections in Brandenburg fell at Easter, and then less testing and reporting will probably be carried out.
