Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Potsdam's Lord Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) is against the automatic relaxation after a decrease in the number of corona infections in Brandenburg.

"We cannot stubbornly open up when new infections are falling," warned Schubert on Saturday.

“With full intensive care beds, even a few new patients are enough to overload the system.

That would be the famous drop that brings the barrel to overflow. "

He advocated that in the planned amendment of the Infection Protection Act for nationwide rules, the "emergency brake" does not automatically end if the incidence of seven days exceeds 100, as is the case in Brandenburg.

According to the Brandenburg Corona Ordinance, the “emergency brake” comes into force regionally if the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is over 100 for three days in a row in one week.

Then the easing of March will no longer apply: a household can only meet with one other person, shopping with an appointment is taboo.

This applies for at least two weeks.

If the seven-day incidence from the tenth to twelfth day of the order is less than 100, it will end at the end of the day after these two weeks.

That could be in Potsdam in a few days, in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district from Sunday and in the Barnim district from Tuesday.

The number of infections had dropped at Easter, and then less testing and reporting will probably be carried out.

The Brandenburger Landkreistag also calls for changes.

"One will have to consider the instruments with which one can prevent such situations in the future," said board member Paul-Peter Humpert of the "Märkische Allgemeine" (Saturday).

Barnim District Administrator Daniel Kurth (SPD) warned of a deceptive effect in the newspaper.
