Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Two and a half weeks after the start of the coalition negotiations in Rhineland-Palatinate, the participants put together those topics that still need clarification between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

In the conversations so far, it has become clear "where you are together and where there are different positions," said one participant.

After an interruption over the Easter days, the talks were finally continued in smaller groups.

The distribution of departments among the three parties has not yet been a central issue.

However, it is considered likely that the previous State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Daniela Schmidt (FDP), will become head of the department.

In addition, it is widely expected that the Green top candidate Anne Spiegel, who is currently head of two ministries, will choose the Ministry of the Environment.

The timetable for the further coalition negotiations is based on May 6, when all three parties want to decide on the outcome of the negotiations at party congresses.

The SPD, Greens and FDP started their negotiations on March 23rd.

In the state elections on March 14th, the traffic light government formed in 2016 was again able to secure a majority of the seats.

In the new state parliament, however, the Greens are stronger than the FDP.

At the constituent session of the new state parliament on May 18, Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) is to be re-elected as head of government.
