Hanover (dpa / lsw) - 1. FC Heidenheim has improved at least temporarily to fifth place in the 2nd Bundesliga with its second win in a row.

Five days after the 1-0 win against Holstein Kiel, coach Frank Schmidt's team followed suit and won 3-1 (1-0) at Hannover 96 on Sunday.

Even without top striker Christian Kühlwetter, Heidenheim was much more effective and scored with a 30-meter shot from Marnon Busch (43rd minute) and a double strike from Robert Leipertz (75th) and Stefan Schimmer (79th).

Florent Muslija only used one of the many 96 chances to make it 1-1 (51st).

Heidenheim is five points behind SpVgg Greuther Fürth on the promotion relegation rank, but the Fürth team have played one game less.

The sporting crisis of Hannover 96 continues.

The Lower Saxony have been without a win for seven games, but they were also unlucky.

They should have taken the lead in the first half.

At the score of 1: 1, a goal by Genki Haraguchi was controversially annulled after the use of video evidence (61st).

The game was overshadowed by the fact that a corona quick test on a Hanover player the day before gave "no clearly evaluable result".

The club canceled the final training and temporarily quarantined the entire team.

Only when all PCR tests were negative on Saturday could the game take place.
