Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In order to revive the economy after the Corona crisis, according to the FDP, Saxony-Anhalt must create a more business-friendly environment.

"Overall, we need a different understanding of entrepreneurship in the state," said top candidate Lydia Hüskens on Saturday on the sidelines of the online liberal party conference of the German press agency.

The administration “keeps putting obstacles in the way” for companies in the areas of traffic, construction or environmental protection, and has “no basic understanding of entrepreneurial activity at all”.

Dealing with companies in crisis is sometimes cynical and outrageous, criticized the top candidate.

For example, when corona-related bankruptcies are commented on in social media with slogans such as “that's what the market regulates”.

Companies that are currently closed for reasons of health protection should not have to rely on handouts from the state, but should be adequately compensated, said Hüskens.

After the crisis, the state must also enable companies that have slipped into bankruptcy during the pandemic to re-enter the market.

This could be done, for example, through tax breaks or subsidy programs.

Overall, economic policy must be about giving companies a "tailwind" so that they can then create jobs and pay taxes.

In the state elections on June 6th, the Liberals are aiming to return to the Magdeburg state parliament after ten years.

The party wanted to decide on its election program at the online party conference on Saturday, which was attended by around 70 delegates.
