Neubrandenburg / Greifswald (dpa / mv) - During special campaigns in the districts of Mecklenburg Lake District and Western Pomerania-Greifswald, people over 60 were spontaneously vaccinated against Corona on Saturday.

Additional appointments were offered in Neubrandenburg, Demmin and Mirow as well as in Greifswald and Pasewalk.

In Greifswald there was already a “huge rush” that morning, said Anke Radlof from the district's press office.

The first people who wanted to be vaccinated had already arrived at 5.30 a.m., two and a half hours before the vaccination center opened.

"Many had folding chairs and books with them," she said.

The mood was “totally relaxed” - despite waiting times of up to two hours.

Vaccinated with the active ingredient from Astrazeneca.

While you could get vaccinations in Vorpommern-Greifswald without registering, the Lake District administration pointed out that you can also reserve an appointment via the hotline.

In Vorpommern-Greifswald, 500 people had been vaccinated by noon.

There is no fear that the vaccine will run out, said Radlof.

On Holy Saturday, more than 960 people in the Lake District were given the Astrazeneca vaccine.

A vaccination campaign had already started on Friday without an appointment being made in Grevesmühlen (Northwest Mecklenburg), where, according to the district, up to 300 people can be vaccinated daily.
