Berlin (dpa / bb) - A 33-year-old man knocked over a police officer with his bike and slightly injured him.

The officers had been called to a residential building in Berlin-Kreuzberg early on Saturday morning, the police said.

On the way there, they discovered a cyclist who matched the description of one of the fugitive suspects.

They passed the cyclist in the patrol car and got out some distance in front of him.

Instead of stopping as requested, the man reportedly drove towards the officers and eventually knocked one of them down.

Both fell to the ground.

The suspect then complained of shoulder pain and was admitted to hospital.

The policeman injured his hand slightly, but was able to continue his duty.
