Könnern / Bernburg (dpa / sa) - Because he apparently drove too fast, a man with his vehicle hit a tree on a country road in the Salzland district and was seriously injured.

According to the police, the 20-year-old first brushed an oncoming car in a right-hand bend between Nelbe and Könnern on Sunday.

When it hit the tree, the engine was torn out, it was said.

The seriously injured man was taken to a hospital in Halle.

The two 62-year-old occupants of the other car were reportedly uninjured.
