Linden (dpa / lhe) - A 32-year-old woman from Linden (Gießen district) is said to have stolen dozens of prescriptions and medicines from doctors' offices.

In at least two cases, she is said to have forged the stolen prescription in such a way that she got sleeping pills, cortisone and ampoules for a local anesthetic, the police said.

The investigators were therefore on the trail of the woman after reporting a Wetzlar doctor's practice in the middle of last year.

After a visit by the 32-year-old, several prescriptions and ampoules of a cortisone were missing.

During an apartment search in March, the police found a "middle double-digit number of blank prescriptions", including from a practice in Giessen.

Despite the investigation, according to the police, the woman shortly thereafter allegedly stole six more ampoules of a prescription pain reliever from a practice in Langgöns (Gießen district).

In addition, the school management of her children's school noticed a fake certificate with which she wanted to excuse absenteeism, it said.

Just one day after the apartment search in March, the woman was also involved in a car accident in Langgöns, according to the police.

She is said to have been under the forbidden influence of drugs.

The police then ordered a blood sample, and the woman also had to surrender her driver's license.

According to the information, the 32-year-old will face criminal proceedings on suspicion of theft of prescriptions and forgery of prescriptions and documents.

Whether the woman stole or forged other prescriptions is the subject of further investigations.

According to a police spokesman, initially nothing was known about the motif.
