The PP has lashed out harshly against Pedro Sánchez for having questioned the contagion data reported by the Community of Madrid in an informal conversation with journalists on his tour of Africa.

The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has accused him of "lying by system constantly" and of having "a terrible obsession with the Community of Madrid."

The mayor of Madrid and national spokesman for the PP, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has also said that he "lies without evidence" and that he is carrying out "a dirty campaign" in the face of the regional elections in Madrid.

The PP candidate has assured Pedro Sánchez that "the thief thinks that everyone is of his condition" because "always", he said, he has doubted the official figures of the Madrid Government.

"What a superior administration cannot do is attack an inferior one (...); it has always had a double standard with Madrid, a constant war, and it has questioned everything we have done."

The regional president has added that it has been his Executive that "since the beginning of the pandemic has had to lead the way to the Government", and has recalled the closure of schools before the first state of alarm or problems to buy sanitary material in the international arena.

The national spokesman of the PP, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has described as "particularly serious" that Sánchez accuses Madrid of "falsifying the data without providing absolutely any evidence."

"The people of Madrid do not deserve such a dirty electoral campaign by Pedro Sánchez."

The mayor of the capital has also assured that Sánchez is the PSOE candidate, not Ángel Gabilondo, "and he is proving it": "Sánchez is campaigning against all Spaniards from the palace of La Moncloa or on a trip officer who is carrying out to Africa ".

Gabilondo asks "not to confront"

Precisely, the socialist candidate, Ángel Gabilondo, today asked Isabel Díaz Ayuso "not to insist on disqualifying the Government of Spain by constantly trying to measure up to him."

The former minister has not questioned the data from Madrid and has summoned journalists when they have asked him to hear what the Prime Minister is going to say on the matter in the appearance he is scheduled to appear early this afternoon.

"We cannot permanently base Madrid's policy on a single objective: to confront the Government of Spain," he added.

Gabilondo has denounced that in the less than two years of Ayuso's government, his Executive "has proven to be failed, that is why it has called elections, or has it called because everything was going very well?"

In her opinion, the president has not governed, nor has she legislated, she has based her entire policy on "confronting" Sánchez.

And he has accused her of campaigning constantly trying to put herself on the level of Sánchez, without debating with the rest of the candidates who are presented to preside over the Community of Madrid.
