09 April 2021 The sentence for Ousseynou Sy, the 48-year-old who hijacked and set fire in March 2019 a bus carrying a school group from Crema with 50 children, two teachers and a janitor, has been reduced from 24 to 19 years, all rescued by the Carabinieri who stopped the man in the rush to San Donato Milanese.

This was decided by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Milan.

The charge of injury fell and was "absorbed" as an aggravating circumstance in the crime of massacre.

Confirmed, however, the aggravating circumstance of the terrorist purpose and all the other charges: kidnapping for the purpose of terrorism and fire.

The public prosecutor, represented by the Deputy Attorney General Lucilla Tontodonati, had asked for confirmation of the first degree sentence.

The college of professional and popular judges chaired by Giovanna Ichino has also established that the Ministry of University and Education is no longer civilly liable: on a practical level, this means that the Miur will no longer have to pay any economic compensation in favor of the family members of the students involved in the attack.
