Halle / Bernburg (dpa) - A 48-year-old from Saxony is said to be responsible for eleven armed robberies in Saxony-Anhalt.

Police stations from Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia had jointly cleared up the series of robberies, the police in Magdeburg announced on Friday.

According to previous knowledge, the loot was tens of thousands of euros.

The man is suspected of having committed several crimes in Thuringia.

According to the information, the series of criminal offenses began at the end of April 2020 in Schafstädt im Saalekreis.

The masked robber appeared when the supermarkets closed and had a knife and a pistol with him.

Several times he wore a conspicuous blonde carnival wig and faked an accent.

The man was caught on January 14th after a raid on a supermarket in Bernburg.

In the market, two employees were threatened with a knife and a pistol, which later turned out to be a toy gun.

The arrested man had the stolen cash in the four-digit range with him.

The man has been in custody since his arrest in mid-January.

Gradually, the man could be assigned more acts, as a spokeswoman said.
