Erfurt (dpa) - Thuringia's head of government Bodo Ramelow (left) has responded indignantly to the cancellation of the federal-state conference on corona containment planned for Monday.

“This destroys the public image of the Prime Minister's Conference.

You can't deal with this decision-making body like that, ”said Ramelow on Friday to the German Press Agency in Erfurt.

"That just stunned me."

He only heard from the media about the decision to cancel the next round of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) with the Prime Minister, which was agreed before Easter, said the only Prime Minister on the left.

"If we become the staffage for a play that apparently takes place within the Union, that is a disservice to the fight against the pandemic."

He suspects that there is no longer a common line in the Union-led camp.

Since the failure of the Easter rest, the Chancellery has been "busy creating unrest" in his view.

The federal states would also be needed for the resharpening of the Infection Protection Act, which is now planned in an urgent procedure, said Ramelow.

"To believe that you can enforce this against the countries makes no sense."

Thuringia's head of government reiterated his stance that there must be nationwide regulations in the fight against pandemics.

"Since February the Chancellery has owed us a uniform step-by-step plan for Germany."

For months, Thuringia has been the state with the highest seven-day incidence of new corona infections.

According to a government spokeswoman in Berlin, an amendment to the Infection Protection Act will be decided by the federal cabinet in the coming week.

Its meeting will be brought forward from Wednesday to Tuesday.

There should be no prime ministerial conference with Merkel next week.
