According to the indictment, the physiotherapist disturbed the patient by caressing and massaging inside the bra and also touching the patient's sex inside the panties.

Denies crime

He is also said to have said things with a sexual and abusive meaning during the treatment.

The man, however, denies any wrongdoing.

A number of years ago, he was suspended by his then employer, after a patient described how the treatment felt unpleasant and too intimate.

Shut down again

A few years later, he was again suspended from another workplace in Sörmland, as the employer no longer had confidence in him after an incident where a woman accused him of sexual harassment in connection with treatment.

That incident resulted in criticism from IVO, the Health and Care Inspectorate, who said that he had failed to inform and obtain consent for the treatment.

However, neither the IVO nor the prosecutor at the time considered that any crime had been committed.

And the physiotherapist himself said that his treatment was based on science and proven experience.

Witness interrogation

But now charges are being brought against the physiotherapist.

The evidence includes an interrogation of witnesses with a close relative of the patient, as well as an interrogation with a professor of physiotherapy as to whether the treatment was adequate.

The trial is being held in Nyköping District Court.
