Erfurt (dpa) - The Nordhausen district wants to extend its model project to open shops and museums in the corona pandemic.

Next Monday, according to District Administrator Matthias Jendricke (SPD), it should be possible to shop in shops and visit museums for another five days in the Nordhausen district with a negative Corona test and digital contact tracking.

An approval of the application by the Thuringian Ministry of Health is still pending, announced the district office on Friday.

Since Tuesday - and actually limited until Saturday evening - shopping in Nordhausen is allowed after a negative test.

As the second Thuringian location after Weimar, the district is implementing a concept to test whether openings associated with tests and requirements are acceptable in the pandemic.

The prerequisite for participation is that the district in the north of the Free State has a continuous corona incidence of less than 100.

On Friday the value for Nordhausen was 52.7.

Other cities such as Erfurt are also making plans for such opening tests.

In Thuringia, these are so far only allowed if the local Ministry of Health gives the green light.
