Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg wants to campaign for better and additional truck parking spaces along federal highways with a motorway-like standard.

Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) said on Friday in Stuttgart that in the coming years the parking space emergency on very busy federal roads should also be counteracted.

"The parking spaces are often too small or too narrow, and there are no sanitary facilities."

The corona pandemic has shown that the systemically relevant occupational group of truck drivers must be paid attention to.

In the opinion of the Green politician, the federal government has so far primarily focused on motorways when expanding and building rest stops.

However, the southwest has a comparatively high proportion of long-distance-relevant federal highways with a lot of traffic.
