Hanover (dpa / lni) - Employers and employees are continuing their negotiations on a new collective agreement for the metal and electrical industry in Lower Saxony.

Before the start of the fifth round of negotiations on Friday, both the employers' association Niedersachsenmetall and IG Metall made positive comments about the pilot deal in North Rhine-Westphalia last week.

"We need a deal that takes into account companies with good, economic situations, but also does not burden those companies that are struggling with economic difficulties due to the current crisis," said the negotiator of Niedersachsenmetall, Torsten Muscharski.

The degree in NRW is a good compromise.

"We are confident that this compromise can also be used here in Lower Saxony."

The employees in the neighboring country will receive a corona allowance of 500 euros in June 2021.

In February 2022, a new special payment of 18.4 percent of a monthly salary will be added.

As of February 2023, this special payment will increase to 27.6 percent of the monthly salary and will then be payable annually.
