Berlin (dpa) - According to the federal government, the public's favorite Günther Jauch is promoting the corona vaccination.

In the current campaign phase, the 64-year-old can be seen immediately after Uschi Glas (77), said a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Health of the German press agency.

The moderator, who lives in Potsdam, will be vaccinated "if he can make an appointment at his place of residence and is authorized to vaccinate," said the spokesman.

On Friday RTL announced that the presenter had been tested for corona and could not take part in a live show on Saturday evening.

The ministry said: "Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn wishes Günther Jauch all the best and a quick recovery and thanks him for supporting the campaign."

While Uschi Glas, for example, cites her grandson as the motivation (“I haven't had my grandson in my arms for over a year”), according to the ministry, the campaign at Jauch alludes to his popularity as a quiz master: “The headline of the first advertising motif shows this willingness based on this to the well-known quiz question mechanics from «Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?»: «Do I get vaccinated?

A) Yes B) Yes C) Yes D) Yes. »» The motif was photographed in Potsdam on March 26th, taking into account the Corona protection rules, and appeared in daily newspapers for the first time on April 9th - i.e. on Friday when the Corona Infection Jauch became known.

"Like many other celebrities, Günther Jauch would like to promote a high level of vaccination readiness in the country and is committed to the action of the Federal Ministry of Health free of charge," the ministry said.

"The campaign aims to help increase willingness to vaccinate and motivate as many people as possible to make a personal, well-informed decision about vaccination."

Some of the people pictured have already been vaccinated due to their age, others have made their decision, but have waited for their turn.

"The striking plaster has been the symbol of readiness to vaccinate since vaccinations began in Germany."

The word «vaccination» (instead of influencer) has been circulating on the internet for weeks for celebrities who advertise vaccinations or make their spades public.

The government's advertising campaign with outdoor advertising and print motifs as well as social media content comes from the agency Scholz & Friends Berlin.

The selection of 64 to 77-year-old celebrities seems to show that the campaign is primarily aimed at older people.

After all, there is currently a vaccination offer almost only for the over 60 age group.

Younger people still have to be patient because there is not enough vaccine available - unless they belong to the risk group themselves, are close contact persons of those at risk or work in the health care system.

According to a representative survey by the YouGov opinion research institute on behalf of the German Press Agency (March 30 to April 1), the willingness to vaccinate among adults in Germany is currently around 65 percent.

18 percent do not want to be vaccinated, 16 percent have not yet made a decision or did not provide any information.
