Hamburg (dpa / lhe) - SV Darmstadt 98 celebrated a surprising victory at Hamburger SV.

Thanks to the 2-1 (0-0) in the Hanseatic city, the Hessians secured important points in the fight against relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening and at least temporarily gained a lead of nine points on the relegation rank 16. The goals Erich Berko (51st minute) and striker Serdar Dursun (60th) scored for Hessen.

Jeremy Dudziak made the connection (77th).

A penalty initially given for Hamburg a few minutes earlier was withdrawn after video evidence.

For HSV it was defeat against table 12.

Another serious setback in the final sprint to promotion to the Bundesliga.

For the time being, Hamburg remains second in the table behind leaders VfL Bochum, but the top favorite could soon be overtaken by the pursuers Greuther Fürth and Holstein Kiel.

As in previous years, HSV threatens to deviate from the path of promotion in the decisive phase.

The defense had failures again.

The North Germans recorded more game shares, but did not use them to clear scoring chances.

The guests withdrew a long way and waited for counter opportunities.

If they came in front of the hosts' gate, they were dangerous.

The counterattack for the first Darmstadt goal was initiated by goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe with a wide and precise tee shot on Mathias Honsack.

Berko had no trouble completing.

The fact that Dursun, who was born in Hamburg, scored his 17th goal of the season in a failed defense by Stephan Ambrosius, hurt the hosts twice.
