Essen (dpa / lnw) - A 14-year-old teenager threatened a man with a knife and later attacked a police officer.

For two days in a row, a 45-year-old was noticed by a group of five children and adolescents between the ages of 11 and 14 who were throwing away a bin.

The first verbal argument on Wednesday was followed by the second encounter on Thursday afternoon.

From the car, the resident warned the children again and spoke to them about their misconduct, the police said.

A 14-year-old from the group first verbally threatened the man in the vehicle and then pulled a jackknife.

When the 45-year-old got out of the car and met him, the kids initially fled.

The threatened person followed the children in his car until the police arrived.

When an officer wanted to search the 14-year-old, the youth reportedly grabbed the police officer by the collar of the protective vest.

The officer overpowered the youth and put handcuffs on him.

During the search of the children, the officers found a total of three folding knives or switchblades.

The legal guardians had to pick up their offspring at the station in Altenessen.

Children of criminal age are investigated for violating the gun law, resistance to law enforcement officers, property damage and threats.
