The Norrbotten region has identified a redundancy of 160 regional employees.

Almost a third of these are Kommunal's members and these are kitchen and cleaning staff, caretakers, operations technicians and warehouse workers.

That they risk their jobs arouses anger in Kommunal's chairman of the Norrbotten Region.

- It is basic staff that is needed for healthcare to deliver at all.

Without them, we stand and fall, says Marianne Engberg who does not tailor the words:

- I think this is madness.

And I want to direct sharp criticism at the political leadership in the Norrbotten Region who do not think beyond their noses.

Employees may have to work harder

Regional director Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson leads the change and justifies the decision as follows.

- Our assessment is that we can reduce the total by approximately 150 positions.

We also believe that it is possible to work in a different way.

Does this mean that Kommunal's members who remain - are forced to work harder?

- There is always that risk, but we managers must handle and act on it.

Of course, we must have companies and employees who have reasonable working conditions, says Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson.
