Hanover (dpa / lni) - For the first time in the corona pandemic, experts estimate that more than 290 people with a Covid 19 infection were in an intensive care unit in Lower Saxony.

On Thursday there were exactly 292 patients, as the "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" (Friday) reported, citing the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine.

At the peak of the second corona wave on January 16, 290 corona patients were in intensive care units in Lower Saxony.

The association warned, according to the report, that clinics are getting tighter.

On Thursday, an average of 2.3 intensive care beds per clinic location were available nationwide - 265 of a total of 1940 beds.

15 percent of the patients had a Covid-19 infection.
