“Some time ago, Facebook was able to find a user by phone number.

The attackers took advantage of this.

Thus, Facebook allowed a leak of personal data of users from the Russian Federation, "- said Vladimir Zykov.

As previously reported by the media, Facebook information has leaked to the network, containing personal data: surnames, names, places of residence, nicknames, phone numbers, user IDs, information about work or study.

Facebook admitted the leak, but APPSIM considered it insufficient.

"The company did not notify the users about the incident, information about which was stolen, and did not apologize to them," the association said.

According to Vladimir Zykov, the ultimate goal of the appeal is a fine or a lawsuit against a foreign social network.

“We are sure that the facts are there, Facebook should be fined for leaking personal data of Russian citizens,” he stressed.

Earlier it was reported that Roskomnadzor threatened to bring to justice the American companies Facebook, Twitter and Google if they did not provide information on the localization of databases of Russian users in Russia.
