Vechta / Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - In the case of a family doctor who is said to have violated Corona hygiene rules, there is so far no evidence that he has infected someone.

"According to the current status of the investigation, an infection of patients by the accused can be ruled out," said a spokesman for the Oldenburg public prosecutor on Friday.

However, the preliminary investigation has not yet been concluded.

It is currently being checked whether the requirements for a criminal attempt have been met.

The investigation had started because of an initial suspicion of attempted or completed bodily harm.

The doctor from the Vechta district was accused by the state's Corona crisis team of having contributed to the fact that at the beginning of February the incidence value in the district had risen to more than 200.

The deputy head of the crisis team had also accused the doctor of belonging to the corona deniers, which the doctor himself denied.

The district had temporarily closed the practice at the end of January due to hygiene deficiencies.

According to the district, the doctor is said to have had contact with around 200 patients.

The allegation was that the doctor continued to treat even though he had corona symptoms himself and that he did not always wear a mask.

The doctor had rejected the allegations as false and untrue.

At most, two corona cases could have been traced back to him and his practice.

The high number of infections in the Vechta district cannot be explained by this.

At the time, the family doctor had accused the health department, the district administration and the representatives of the state of defamation that had reached an existential level.
