The abuse was discovered after a doctor reported a concern to the social services after discovering signs of sexual abuse in one child.

The social services then immediately made a police report.

- Already on the same day, the suspect could be called in for questioning, and a house search was carried out in his home.

It was important that the police could secure evidence immediately, says prosecutor Linda Caneus.

The indictment covers hundreds of cases of aggravated rape of children, sexual exploitation of children for sexual posing and sexual harassment.

It is described by the prosecutor as one of the biggest targets in the country when it comes to sexual abuse of children and self-produced child pornography.

The preliminary investigation report covers more than 7,000 pages.

Abuse throughout the child's life

The prosecutor assesses that the criminal suspicions should be assessed as serious.

The background to that decision is, among other things, that there are several people who participated in the abuse, that the abuse was documented and that they took advantage of the children's young age.

- One of the children was when the abuse was committed between zero and six years.

When the crimes began, the children were only a few weeks old and the abuse has continued throughout the child's life.

The second child was four to nine years old, and has been abused for most of his life, says Linda Caneus.

The trial starts on April 19 in Kalmar District Court and is expected to take at least 25 days.
