Eschwege (dpa / lhe) - According to the police, the fire in a half-timbered house in Eschwege in northern Hesse broke out in the area of a night storage heater.
A spokesman reported on Friday that there was presumably a build-up of heat.
However, further investigations are still ongoing.
The fire broke out on the night of Easter Sunday.
The three residents were able to leave the house on time and were unharmed.
Since the fire threatened to spread to other houses, neighboring buildings were also evacuated.
The damage was initially estimated at around 200,000 euros, the half-timbered house was in danger of collapsing after the fire.
