Erfurt (dpa / th) - The state of Thuringia is providing immediate financial aid amounting to 700,000 euros for private broadcasting.

The state media authority (TLM) and state chancellery announced on Friday that the funds are intended to compensate for loss of income due to the corona pandemic and can be applied for immediately.

The aim is to secure nationwide, regional and local media diversity as well as jobs in the editorial offices.

The TLM decides on the applications.

"We are pleased that we are now quickly putting the promised state aid for private broadcasters into practice for the second time," said State Secretary Malte Krückels (Die Linke) and TLM Director Jochen Fasco.
