Dresden (dpa / sn) - After a machete attack at Dresden Central Station, the public prosecutor brought charges against a 46-year-old man.

He is accused of attempted manslaughter in two cases as well as dangerous bodily harm, as the authorities announced on Friday. According to the prosecutor, the attacker stormed two 33 and 37-year-old men armed with machetes in the attack on November 15, 2020.

The 33-year-old managed to escape, while the 37-year-old suffered minor injuries in the scuffle that followed.

All involved are Syrians.

The defendant badly injured himself with his machete and had to be treated in the hospital.

He has been in custody since his arrest in November.

The Dresden Regional Court must now decide whether to admit the indictment.
