Kiel (dpa / lno) - Downtime due to mental illness in Schleswig-Holstein has continued to increase, according to DAK-Gesundheit.

The health insurance company announced that 300 days of absence per 100 insured persons are a high.

Compared to 2010, this is an increase of 69 percent.

In the past year, women in the northernmost federal state had significantly more days of absence due to mental illness than men.

A case of mental illness lasted an average of almost 41 days for both sexes in 2020.

According to the health insurance company, this is also a maximum.

With 119 absent days per 100 insured persons, depression was a little less represented than in the previous year, but it was still the main cause of mental illness.

There was a significant increase of 29 percent compared to the previous year to almost 76 days of absence per 100 insured persons in adjustment disorders, the reactions to stressful life events such as bereavement.

According to the DAK-Gesundheit, the Berlin Iges Institute evaluated data from 116,000 insured employees in Schleswig-Holstein.

All absences for which a certificate of incapacity for work with a psychological diagnosis has been sent to the health fund are included.
