Leipzig (dpa) - After two corona-related cancellations, the director of the Leipzig Book Fair is assuming that he will be able to hold the book show again next year at the usual date in March.

Oliver Zille told the German Press Agency that he expected the vaccination campaign to change the situation.

Nevertheless, it will be a book fair under Corona conditions - even with fewer visitors.

Instead of 300,000 guests as before the pandemic, 100,000 visitors would be a target for the industry get-together in March.

There are still many uncertainties for the small special edition of the reading festival «Leipzig reads», which the fair is planning this May.

Six weeks before the start it is still completely unclear what the general conditions will be.

However, it depends on whether the publishers will hold readings with authors in Leipzig.

300 events were planned.

In any case, there will be a festive awarding of the Leipzig Book Fair Prize - if necessary without an audience at all, said Zille.
