Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The number of infections with the corona virus in Brandenburg has skyrocketed.

The health authorities reported 911 new infections within a day.

There were 551 new cases on Thursday.

The maximum number of corona infections within 24 hours was registered on January 8th at 1595.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health justified the current high number of cases with the fact that the Easter holidays were still having an impact.

During this time, fewer tests had taken place and fewer people went to the doctor.

Most of the new infections reported the Oder-Spree (+89), Teltow-Fläming (+84) and Havelland (+82) districts.

The seven-day incidence rose again over the mark of 100 across the country. After the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants had reached 96.7 within seven days on Thursday, the value rose to 103 on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health. 7th

Corona focus remains the Elbe-Elster district with a seven-day incidence of 180.7, followed by the city of Cottbus with 167.5 infections within one week per 100,000 inhabitants.

The federal government and the federal states have agreed on an “emergency brake” - nationally or regionally - if the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week for three days in a row in rural districts or urban districts is over 100.

Then easing will be withdrawn.

Brandenburg does not have a nationwide, but a regional emergency brake.

It is valid for at least two weeks, even if a circle falls below the value of 100 for three days.
