Hanover (AP) - The Würzburger Kickers draw new hope in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.

In a catch-up game on the 25th match day, the bottom of the table won 2-1 (0-0) at Hannover 96 on Thursday and with 19 points was able to reduce the gap to Eintracht Braunschweig in relegation place 16 to seven points.

Hannover 96 remains in tenth place with 36 points.

Genki Haraguchi (47th minute) scored for Hanover.

Frank Ronstadt (58th) and Rajiv van la Parra (80th) turned the match for coach Ralf Santelli's team.

There were chances in the first half just before the break.

First 96 captain Dominik Kaiser failed on the post (38th).

Four minutes later, Würzburg's goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann was able to direct a shot from Philipp Ochs onto the post.

The guests had the best opportunity through Ridge Munsy.

His shot only landed on the aluminum (44th).

Two minutes after the break, Haraguchi did better.

Via Niklas Hult and Hendrik Weydandt the ball came to the Japanese, who scored the 1-0 from close range.

Würzburg was by no means shocked.

Ronstadt equalized with a perfectly shot free kick from around 25 meters to make it 1-1.

Then the Santelli-Elf continued to play for victory and was deservedly rewarded by the goal from Joker van la Parra.
