Dresden (dpa / sn) - In Saxony, over 60-year-olds have been able to book appointments for a corona vaccination since Thursday.

As the Ministry of Social Affairs announced, only appointments for vaccinations with the vaccine from Astrazeneca are given.

In the morning, appointments were initially possible without long waiting times.

The Saxon vaccination portal was available for this before 8 a.m.

The vaccinations should then start on Friday.

Meanwhile, the so-called seven-day incidence, which indicates the rate of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, has fallen slightly again, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

According to the RKI, it was 143 on Thursday (as of 3:08 a.m.). The day before, the value was 150.

This means that Saxony was still in second place among the German federal states, behind Thuringia.

However, the RKI again pointed out that there may have been fewer tests and delayed reporting figures due to the Easter holidays.

That should be taken into account when interpreting the numbers.
