The phenomenon is called mammary clouds, or mammatus clouds as it is also called.

- They are so called because they simply look like breasts, says Nitzar Cohen, meteorologist at SVT.

Martin Bergström in Nötesjö was out in his garden when he saw the clouds.

- I thought they looked funny and I have never seen anything like it so I had to photograph them, he says.

Unusual weather phenomenon

- The phenomenon manifests itself a couple of times a year, but you have to be lucky if you are to see them, says Nitzan Cohen.

It is not entirely scientifically established how the clouds form the bumpy formation and mother clouds are more common in the summer.

- They are formed on the underside of village clouds and probably have to do with movements in the air.

Earlier this year, unusual cloud holes were also seen over Skåne and more about weather phenomena can be found on SVT's weather page.
