  • Just before 9.30 pm, an alarm comes that a fire has started in an apartment building on Östra Strand, which among other things consists of student apartments.


  • The police also receive an alarm about a riot at an address on Östra Strand.

    A man is seriously injured and the police state that the injuries may have been caused by a sharp object.

    The man is taken to hospital and dies there.

    He has not yet been identified.


  • According to witness information, which SVT Nyheter has taken note of, someone must have been seen coming to the scene by car and then an object has been thrown at the property.


  • The rescue service testifies to a very rapid course of fire and explosions must have been heard in connection with the fire.

    A larger area is cordoned off and the national bomb squad is called in.

    About 30 apartments in the property are being evacuated.


  • A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with seeking care for burns in hospital.


  • The police classify the events as murder, alternatively murder, and general dangerous destruction.
