  • Restrictions: Andalusia extends the provincial closure after the rebound in infections

Andalusia is committed to an

extension

of the state of alarm if the fourth wave of the pandemic does not stop before May 9, when the last decree drawn up by the Government of Pedro Sánchez ends and, with it, the legal capacity of the autonomies to impose restrictions on mobility and economic activity.

It was the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, who this Thursday has publicly shown himself in favor of extending the current state of alarm "for at least one more month" if the

incidence

rate of

the virus continues to increase.

He has done so in an interview on the Onda Cero program Más de uno, in which, in addition, he has been very critical of Sánchez's executive for not having a plan b prepared.

"If the incidence is still high, I am in favor of maintaining it, at least, one more month," Moreno has responded to the question of the journalist Carlos Alsina about a hypothetical extension of the state of alarm, despite the fact that his party, the PP, does not only it has not pronounced in that sense, but it got to vote

against

the last decree in the Congress of Deputies.

"It is my personal opinion as president of the Junta de Andalucía", has been justified.

However, and after attacking the inaction of the central government when it comes to designing specific regulations, he insisted that there is still time to draw up a decree "by means of

urgency

" that provides coverage to the autonomous communities at the time of apply sanitary restrictions to contain and fight the spread of the coronavirus.

If there is no such specific legal coverage and the state of alarm ceases to be in effect, the Andalusian president has warned, the communities will be left

helpless

and exposed to the fact that the measures agreed upon may be lifted by the courts.

Andalusia is thus positioned next to Navarra, which is the only community that in the Interterritorial Health Council that was held yesterday clearly opted to extend the current state of alarm, while the majority demanded an express legal plan for after May 9 .

Although this is not the official position, at least for the moment, of the Popular Party, Moreno Bonillal has rejected that this can be interpreted as a new

clash

with the national leadership, after the open confrontation between Genoa and the regional executive that he presides on account of the provincial congresses and, very especially, of the Seville conclave.

"There is no clash with Pablo Casado, there are different opinions," Moreno stressed to insist, then, that he maintains a "very fluid and personally very intense" relationship with the national president of the PP.

"But we are not

twins

and sometimes we see things differently," he added.

In relation to the

internal tensions

over the congresses, he reiterated the weight that, in his opinion, the territorial structures of the party should have - "we are not props", he came to affirm at a time of the crisis - but, at the same time , has emphasized that the confrontation is "past water" and that the rest of the congresses that were pending in Andalusia have already been agreed.

Regarding the

vaccination

process

, he has requested more transparency from the Ministry of Health and that the Sánchez executive take a more active role in coordination, that he "leads and plans" and does not limit himself to being a mere "vaccine carrier."

The decision, adopted yesterday by the Interrterritorial Council, to limit vaccination with the AstraZeneca compound to those over 60 years of age was taken, he said, applying the "principle of

prudence

", although at the same time it has affected that "all medications they have secondary effects "and in that" the benefits outweigh the harms ".
