Berlin (dpa / bb) - Because he is said to have been involved in three brutal attacks on women, a 28-year-old is standing in front of the Berlin district court.

Together with accomplices, he is said to have suddenly attacked young women on the street, dragged them into a car and raped them.

At the start of the trial on Thursday, the defender said the allegations were denied.

Her client will currently not provide any further information.

In the first act, the accused and an alleged accomplice are said to have waited with a vehicle at a taxi stand in Berlin-Kreuzberg in August 2019.

They took in a couple as an alleged taxi, according to the prosecution.

The alleged rapists pushed the man out of the car after a short drive and drove on with the woman.

The tourist from Australia was raped by both attackers.

In January 2020, the defendant and an alleged accomplice are said to have suddenly dragged an 18-year-old from the street into a car, raped her, then dragged her to an apartment and sexually abused her again.

The young woman was held for hours.

About a month later, the alleged rapists pulled a then 21-year-old woman into a car.

She was severely strangled and sexually abused.

A suspected accomplice of the 28-year-old was sentenced to thirteen years in prison in an earlier trial.

The perpetrators had “deliberately hunted down young women”, according to the decision of another criminal chamber of the Berlin regional court five weeks ago.

The attacks were planned, particularly cruel and brutal.

However, the verdict against the 33-year-old is not yet final.

The trial of the 28-year-old, who has been in custody for around six months, will continue on April 12th.
