Bad Kreuznach (dpa / lrs) - The hotels and restaurants in Rhineland-Palatinate are calling for a departure from the previous line to contain the corona pandemic.

After a board meeting, the president of the Dehoga regional association, Gereon Haumann, said on Thursday that it no longer makes sense to “submit to the ups and downs of incidences”.

What is needed is a strategy that makes it possible to live with the pandemic.

A negative test as a “personalized ticket” for gastronomy and other areas of public life is the right approach, explained the Dehoga board in a unanimous decision.

A negative test result should not only be valid for 24 but 48 hours and be included in a digital contact record.

Due to the incubation period of three to seven days, a negative test result means “that I will not be contagious for the next three days,” said Haumann.

Instead of a negative test result, proof of vaccination should also be sufficient.

Haumann described the situation of the hotels and restaurants in Rhineland-Palatinate as catastrophic.

"There is hopelessness, great need."

In many cases, all of the companies' equity savings have been used up, and in some cases even retirement provisions have been used up.
