He believed he was engaging in a juicy transaction but only won a placement in police custody.

The gendarmes of Haute-Garonne tell this Thursday how the false seller of a stolen motorcycle was trapped by his own victim.

The device had been stolen in mid-October in the Beauzelle sector, north of Toulouse.

Its owner filed a complaint.

And more than five and a half months later, he witnessed the reappearance of his motocross bike on a classifieds site.

The victim therefore contacted the gendarmes again and set up with them a now classic ploy: make an appointment with the seller to buy his own motorcycle.

On “D” day, the real owner took the time to negotiate to verify that it was indeed his machine and then gave the alert.

The receiver saw a patrol fall on him.
