Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In Rhineland-Palatinate, more than 75,000 people between the ages of 60 and 69 have registered for a corona vaccination on the first day.

A total of about 550,000 people in this age group live in the state, as the Ministry of Health in Mainz announced on Thursday.

Since this Wednesday they can register for a vaccination.

With the change in the use of Astrazeneca, a greater amount of vaccine is available for people over the age of 60.

It should be possible to apply the first syringes from the end of April to the beginning of May.

The new registrations would have no influence on the allocation of appointments for people over 70 or with previous illnesses in priority group two.

These have priority.

"The order of priority for vaccinations will be maintained in Rhineland-Palatinate."
