Zimmer ob Rottweil / Empfingen (dpa / lsw) - After a lunch break with wine, a truck driver was on the A81 with almost 2.5 per mille on Wednesday.

According to the police, he had previously "looked into the glass" in the Eschachtal car park.

That's probably why he touched the guardrail while threading in the direction of Stuttgart and drove on.

A witness noticed this and passed the vehicle number on to the police.

A motorway police patrol then stopped the 50-year-old driver at Empfingen in the Freudenstadt district and initiated an alcohol test.

The driver told the officers that he had had wine during the lunch break.

He had to surrender his driver's license and leave the truck behind.

He is now awaiting a complaint about road traffic hazard and accident escape.
