Dessau-Roßlau (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's state constitutional court is negotiating a change in the law that, under certain conditions, paves the way for pure postal voting.

22 members of the state parliament, including 21 from the AfD parliamentary group, see freedom of choice, voting secrecy and the principle of public voting as violated and consider the regulations to be unconstitutional, as the court announced in advance.

The MPs attack the legislative changes with a norm review procedure.

The law amending the municipal constitution law and electoral regulations came into force on November 2, 2020, following a decision by the state parliament.

According to this, in cases of force majeure, under certain conditions, it should be possible to vote by post.

A new state parliament will be elected in Saxony-Anhalt on June 6th.

So far, the state returning officer has not seen any reason to hold it as a purely postal vote due to the corona pandemic.
