Patras (dpa / lby) - Six Greek football fans and the owner of a bar in the port city of Patras have to pay fines totaling 8,600 euros for disregarding corona rules.

The owner of the bar opened his shop for the six regular customers on Wednesday evening so that they could all watch the Champions League game FC Bayern against Paris Saint-Germain (2: 3) on television.

Neighbors informed the police.

When the officials arrived, the football enthusiasts locked the door of the bar.

The public prosecutor immediately ordered the door to be opened by a locksmith, as the Greek state broadcaster (ERT) reported on Thursday.

Now the six fans have to pay 300 euros per person because they were in an illegally opened bar, and another 300 euros per person because they did not comply with the nocturnal exit ban (between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.)

The owner of the bar pays his passion for football even more dearly: He has to expect a fine of 5000 euros.
