Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl (dpa / lsw) - When checking a car driver near the German-French border, customs officers tracked down 30 kilograms of drugs in the Emmendingen district.

As the main customs office in Lörrach announced on Thursday, it was about 16 kilograms of amphetamine, 9 kilograms of ecstasy and 5.5 kilograms of cocaine.

The alleged drug courier had therefore entered Germany with his transporter over the Rhine bridge above Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl from France.

During the inspection on Highway 113, a drug sniffer dog named "Quincy" showed a noticeable reaction on the spare wheel of the vehicle.

In fact, there were 25 packages with the narcotics under the hubcap.

The 48-year-old driver was provisionally arrested, and his car and drugs were confiscated.

The man is now in custody by order of a magistrate.
