After the death of 19 people out of 79 cases of blood clots identified in the country, the British scientific committee overseeing the vaccination campaign recommended this Wednesday, April 7 that the youngest be offered an alternative vaccine, Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna.

For the government, this first disappointment is worrying because Boris Johnson has relied heavily on the success of his immunization program.

The United Kingdom is the most bereaved country in Europe with now nearly 127,000 dead.

Nevertheless, he managed to stem the number of contaminations, hospitalizations and deaths.

A success due both to months of confinement, but also to its vaccination campaign so far without pitfalls and one of the most advanced on the planet.

This hitch on

AstraZeneca

is all the more annoying as it occurs at the same time when the immunization campaign will be extended to the rest of the adult population to accelerate the reopening of the country.

Safe and efficient

 ", according to Boris Johnson

Suddenly,

Boris Johnson

has stepped up to the plate.

The Prime Minister had succeeded in making people forget his chaotic management of the pandemic with the success of the vaccination.

He had to strive to reassure and defend a national vaccine "

safe and effective

", which is according to him the key to a cautious return to normality as the country will soon achieve collective immunity.

To avoid a disproportionate and dissuasive impact on general confidence, the authorities and doctors are now redoubling their efforts to remind people of the merits of being immunized.

All the newspapers followed suit this morning: "

Keep calm and carry on jabbing" - "Stay calm and continue the vaccination

 ", headline several dailies.

The

Sun

has made its calculations and recalls that there is "

0.000095% risk of blood clots after vaccination with AstraZeneca

 ".
