Hamburg (dpa) - With the new album “Udopium - Das Beste”, the big panic anniversary for rock musician Udo Lindenberg is rising.

It will be 50 years since his debut album was released in 2021: In 1971 the musician released the record "Lindenberg", on which he sang in English - before he became a German rock pioneer.

The "Udopium" -Werkschau including four new songs will be released on May 14th, shortly before his 75th birthday (May 17th), announced the record company Warner Music Germany & DolceRita Music on Thursday in Hamburg.

According to the information, Lindenberg wrote almost 1000 songs between 1971 and 2021.

The first of the four new pieces on “Udopium” comes out this Friday (April 9th): “Mittendrin”.

"I'm right in the middle of the action and the experimental, checking out other grooves," says the musician.

He wrote “Mittendrin” together with a colleague who not only shares his love for Hamburg, their adopted home, but also for headgear.

«Johannes Oerding - brilliant, flexible and quick, just like me.

Quick and good, a man with a hat! ”Says Lindenberg.

For Oerding (39, “On good days”), who has already performed at the rock musician's concerts, it is “an accolade to work with Udo”.

Oerding: "After all, he was the trigger, the foundation and the pioneer for a new German song language."

"Udopium - that's half a century of music history," the message continued.

And Lindenberg is far from finished, his Eldorado remains the stage - that's what he lives for and for his audience.

Or as Lindenberg is quoted: «Rock 'n' Roll is the fire under the ass and in the heart.

When we play it, the eternal flame burns, ”he says.

"There's no sagging there."
