Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - General practitioners' entry into the corona vaccination campaign went well in Saxony-Anhalt.

With the exception of a few practices, all general practitioners would have received the ordered amount of vaccine, said Holger Fischer from the general practitioner association of Saxony-Anhalt on Wednesday.

Only a few colleagues initially went away empty-handed because of logistical problems.

He himself vaccinated the first six of his patients in his practice in Quedlinburg on Tuesday.

The first vaccinations also worked as planned for family doctor Robin John from Schönebeck (Salzlandkreis).

On Wednesday morning he vaccinated his first patients on home visits, several very old people, for whom the way to the vaccination center in Staßfurt had been too far.

Especially for such patients, the start of vaccination with general practitioners is very good news, said John.

Nevertheless, he tries to vaccinate as many patients as possible in the practice.

That is easier to organize logistically.

Whether the general practitioners vaccinate on home visits, during consultation hours or in extra campaigns is up to the practices.

John simply sorted his patient list by age and now calls them - starting with the oldest.

By the end of next week, he wants to have all of his over 80-year-old patients who have not yet received an injection vaccinated once.

During the first vaccinations in his practices in Quedlinburg and Westerhausen (Harz district), however, Fischer concentrated on younger patients who belong to the risk group due to severe previous illnesses.

In both practices, the lunch break is used for the corona vaccinations.
