“I think it would be an excessive norm if Russian citizens were forced to change their passports just to place a memo in their passports ... It is correct that the decision was made that there is no need to replace passports in connection with this small change,” Bessarab said.

The parliamentarian also recalled the prospects for the implementation of the initiative for electronic analogues of passports.

“Moreover, today we are already declaring that over time, the entire digital world will move to digital passports.

Of course, this situation will not escape Russia either.

We will also gradually introduce an electronic analogue of the passport, which, possibly, will combine several documents, ”the deputy added.

Earlier it was reported about the proposal to supplement the memo on the 20th page of the identity card, where it is planned to post information on the provisions related to the issuance and replacement of the document.

Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia clarified that if the changes are adopted, citizens will not need to change their passports without fail.
