Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Two small peregrine falcon chicks are now beeping again at the Nuremberg Imperial Castle.

Bird fans can watch and overhear the small birds of prey and their parents in their nesting area via webcam.

"The first chick hatched during the night, the second probably in the morning," said Stefan Böger from the responsible district government in Middle Franconia on Wednesday.

The two white, fluffy young birds could be seen for the first time around noon when a parent was feeding them pieces of meat.

By the end of February the female had laid four eggs high up in the Sinwell Tower.

Now the tension increases as to whether the two other eggs will also have chicks.

“Usually not all of them hatch.

At the moment the chances are still good, ”said Böger.

13 young peregrine falcons have flown out of the castle tower since 2013.

The district government had actually created the nesting site for kestrels.

But then this was occupied by the even rarer peregrine falcons.
